چکیده
In this paper, a novel quality of service (QoS) prediction framework is proposed to accommodate different applications with various QoS requirements. The purpose of the proposed structure is to estimate, given the QoS requirements of different applications, the number of them can be satisfied according to the predefinedQoS level and the number of themhave to be rejected or accepted under lower level. Moreover, this structure is able to control the network behavior when the new application with certain QoS requirements requesting for the connection. The framework consists of four modules. QoS Requirements Monitoring detects the changes in the supplied QoS. QoS Prediction performs at real-time to estimate whether the newQoS can be adapted to the current QoS. QoS Violation is dedicated to detect the violation. And amodule ofQoS Estimation is used tomake the decisionwhether the hopeless new traffic is refused or acceptedwith acceptable QoS requirements. Therefore, this structure is able to control network behavior when the surrounding environment changes. Numerical and simulation results obtained suggest that the proposed predictive scheme is a promising approach for real time QoS prediction. & 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

A Systematic Scheme for Guaranteed Deterministic Performance Service on WDM Optical Networks
A major challenge in design of future generation high-speed networks is to provide guaranteed quality of service for the real-time multimedia applications. In this paper, we study the problem of providing guaranteed deterministic performance service to the real-time and variable length messages in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks. In particular, we propose an admission co...

متن کاملScheduling Multicast Packets in Single-Hop WDM Networks
A WDM star coupler network consists of a number of network nodes connected via optical fibers to a passive star coupler. In a single-hop WDM network, a data packet is transmitted from one node to another without going through intermediate nodes. A number of applications require information to be sent to multiple destinations. Therefore, supporting multicast communications is important for commu...
متن کاملRouted Wavelength WDM Networks
An optical fiber can potentially have more than 30 THz of bandwidth that can be exploited by future generation broadband ISDN networks. However, because of the mismatch between optical transmission and electronic processing, the network transmission rate cannot exceed few Gbps. One popular solution to this problem is to employ wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) by fragmenting the whole band...
